Illegal aliens
- Where do you stand on amnesty for illegal aliens?
First, we need to secure our nation's borders. Failure to take this step makes senseless
nearly any plan we might put in place. Second, we need to address this matter in a pragmatic manner. There are an estimated 11 to 14 million illegal aliens in this country. Yes, these people
have broken our laws, but it is also not realistic to think that we can incarcerate or deport each and every one of them. The efforts would be futile and the costs prohibitive. We need to
recognize and balance two key factors: one, many of these people are now working in our society and providing valuable services to our economy, and two it is a very heavy burden on our economy
to take care of illegal aliens and their children (their education and their health care). I am prepared to work with others as your Congressman to help find common sense solutions for this
problem.
