- What is your stance on gun control?
The second amendment says that we have a right to bear arms, but I do not believe this means assault weapons such as AK-47 submachine guns, which place our police force in harms way. I also believe that we should aggressively enforce the laws we have regarding illegal arms as Mayor Bloomberg and 250 other mayors around the country are calling for.
- What is your stance on abortion?
My wife and I would not opt for an abortion if it was a decision we were faced with. However, I believe in a woman's right to choose. This is a very private matter that should be made with guidance from friends, relatives, doctors and clergy... not the government. I do however see nothing wrong with the government requiring consent from those who are minors. I also believe that we need to provide better prenatal education to young mothers.
- Will you speak to lobbyists if elected?
Yes. It is important to thoroughly understand and research a subject prior to making decisions. Lobbyists are one of many sources I will turn to when seeking to attain a comprehensive picture of an issue. However, I do not intend to take their money! I will not be bought off.
- Do you have any pet peeves that the government should help us with?
Yes. I believe that we should deploy existing technology to stop the billions of dollars lost each year to identity thieves. And while we are at it, let's stop spam mail and the malicious efforts to infect our computer systems with viruses.
- Is it true that you have contributed to Republican politicians including George Pataki?
Partisan gridlock is the major cause of why we have had a "do nothing" Congress. Even though I have been a registered Democrat since I've been 18 years old, I have demonstrated an ability to work with people from all parties in order to get things done. I will continue this practice if elected.
While at Plug Power, I contributed to many politicians including George Pataki, Al D'Amato, Al Gore and others because they understood the importance of fuel cells and they were supportive of my effort to both create jobs right here in the Capitol Region and to also advance an important alternative energy technology.
